Here’s the poop on what the new plastic bag ban covers…
We have learned from Assemblyman Linda Rosenthal’s office what the new plastic bag ban does and doesn’t cover. The law passed last week in Albany imposes an outright ban on “single use” plastic bags like the ones given out by grocery stores.
Not banned:
Poop bags on rolls for picking up animal waste
Bags from liquor stores, since these items must be covered up
Trash can liners

NYC’s Participatory Budgeting program allows Upper West Siders to decide how Council Member Helen Rosenthal will spend $1 million on community improvement projects. Everyone – from middle school students on up – who lives in or attends school in the district is eligible to cast ballots for up to 5 projects. People living in Helen Rosenthal’s District 6 may vote in person at her office, 563 Columbus Avenue at 87th Street, until 6 p.m. today, Friday, April 5th.
