Freedom of Information Act

The Committee on Open Government  is responsible for enforcing YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW through the Freedom of Information and Open Meetings laws.

FOIL (Freedom of Information Law), is New York’s version of the federal FOIA (Freedom of Information Act). OML ( New York Open Meetings Law) is legislation which asserts the public’s right to “be fully aware of, and able to observe the performance of public officials and attend and listen to the deliberations and decisions that go into the making of public policy”.
